§ Mr. Peter LloydIn the second six months of 1989, a total of 164 persons were removed from the United Kingdom under the deportation process on the recommendation of a court following conviction for a criminal offence (section 3(6) of the Immigration Act 1971). A further 32 were deported on the ground that deportation was conducive to the public good following a criminal conviction (section 3(5)(b)). Separate information is not readily available for those who were settled in the United Kingdom.
