HC Deb 08 May 1990 vol 172 c19W
Mr. Devlin

To ask the Prime Minister what value for money savings have been achieved by the Cabinet Office in the last year; and how much of this was as a result of advice from the central unit on purchasing.

The Prime Minister

Final figures for 1989–90 are not yet available. Provisional figures prepared for the central unit on purchasing show value for money improvements of £1,510,000 achieved by the Cabinet Office during 1989–90.

It is not possible to attribute particular value for money savings to advice from the CUP. The role of the unit is to provide advice and guidance on best purchasing practice.
