§ Mrs. Virginia BottomleyIt is predominantly for local authorities to determine the financial information systems they need to develop in order to implement community care policies in the way best suited to local needs and circumstances. Many authorities are working with the Audit Commission, and other advisers to develop their strategies and systems to support them. In addition, the Department of Health is supporting a joint project between the Association of Directors of Social Services and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy with the objective of producing guidance on financial management.
