§ Mr. Robin CookTo ask the Secretary of State for Health how many district health authorities were unable to submit to his Department all the data items in Korner minimum datasets for the year 1988–89; and how many of these district health authorities are unlikely to be able to provide complete data for 1989–90.
§ Mr. FreemanKorner minimum datasets contain hundreds of individual data items, not all of which are centrally required. It is not possible to say which district health authorities failed to collect particular data items. However, the overall picture shows that 92 per cent. of finished in-patient episodes were submitted, of which 76 per cent. had actual diagnostic information. The remainder of centrally required information is provided by aggregate returns, and 98 per cent. of the expected returns for 1988–89 have been received.
§ Mr. Robin CookTo ask the Secretary of State for Health if it has now been decided which sets of Korner data will be collected from National Health Service hospital trusts; and if similar data will be required from hospitals in the private sector.
