HC Deb 29 March 1990 vol 170 c303W
13. Mr. Allan Stewart

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement on the performance of the Northern Ireland economy over the last 12 months.

Mr. Cope

The latest information shows that, in the last quarter of 1989, manufacturing output was 7 per cent. above the same quarter of the previous year, the number unemployed in February 1990 was 10,900 down on a year earlier and growth in Northern Ireland's gross domestic product since 1981 has been similar to the United Kingdom's.
