To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will list the external financing limits for each of the nationalised industries for the last three, the current, and the next three years; and what percentage this represents, for each industry, of the public sector borrowing requirement.

[holding answer 19 March 1990]: The external finance limits for nationalised industries for 1986–87 to 1992–93 are set out in table 21.5.1 of the Government's Expenditure Plans 1990–91 to 1992–93 (Cm. 1021). The public sector borrowing requirement is set out in the Financial Statement and Budget Report (HC 286).

I regret that it is not meaningful to express public expenditure provision for a particular nationalised industry as a percentage of the public sector borrowing requirement.
