§ Mr. NichollsThis European Commission proposal aims to support and complement activities developed by and in member states in the area of continuing vocational training. An explanatory memorandum was submitted to the Commons Select Committee on European Legislation on 31 January 1990. The text is currently being negotiated at official level and the proposal is expected to be considered by the European Community Labour and Social Affairs Council on 29 May 1990.

Member for Stoke-on-Trent, South (Mr. Ashley) of 15 March,Official Report, column 340, if he will give the regional breakdown of the number of young people over 18 years on YTS with special training needs endorsements; and if he will make a further statement.
