To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what steps he is taking to ensure the safety of the SS Montgomery in the Thames estuary.

§ Mr. McLoughlin
The wreck of the Liberty ship Richard Montgomery is marked by four lighted buoys and an outer cordon of 12 unlit marker buoys. Periodic surveys are conducted to establish the condition of the wreck. The next survey is planned for later this year.
