§ Dr. David ClarkTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what information he requests from applicants to the set-aside scheme with regard to the non-agricultural use of the land to be set aside and planning permission; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. GummerFarmers wishing to set aside land to non-agricultural use are required to specify the land concerned and to describe the intended new use. Tenants must submit a copy of a consent form signed by the landlord showing that he is content that the land be used for non-agricultural purposes. As already indicated to the hon. Member, information as regards planning permission is not required from applicants, although advice on the point is given in the scheme literature.
