HC Deb 21 March 1990 vol 169 cc683-4W
Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps have been taken to ensure that no staff or former staff of companies bidding for the Crown Suppliers are engaged as consultants.

Mr. Chope

[holding answer 19 March 1990]: When employing consultants, care is always taken to avoid potential conflicts of interest. It would not be acceptable to use, as a consultant on a matter relating to the Crown Suppliers, either a company which was bidding for the Crown Suppliers or an individual who was known to have a continuing relationship with a bidder.
