HC Deb 15 March 1990 vol 169 cc355-6W
Mr. Grocott

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department at the latest available date, how many male and female prisoners in England and Wales are currently remanded in custody awaiting medical reports.

Mr. Mellor

The data on remands in custody awaiting a medical report are collected annually and are not available centrally in a form which would enable a figure to be given for the number held on remand for this purpose on a particular date. This could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
