Ms. Short

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment for each of the Training Agency areas within Greater London, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, the Birmingham and Solihull Manpower Services Commission area and for Great Britain as a whole, what are the most recent monthly statistics for employment training showing(a) entrants in the latest available period, and the number of cumulative entrants since the scheme started, (b) a breakdown of entrants which shows how many were male and female, the length of time they had been out of work, their ethnic background and whether or not they had any disabilities, (c) the number of trainees in the latest available period who entered work placements and the cumulative total of how many are in work places at the latest available date, (d) trainees who left the scheme in the latest available period, and the number of cumulative leavers since the scheme started, (e) for all those trainees who have left the scheme how many found work; failed to attend; went on to another course of training or education; completed the course; left for sickness; or went back into unemployment and (f) the total number of currently filled places.

Information on entrants is given in table 1. The breakdown of entrants is given in table 2. Information about those entering or on work placements is not available. The estimated number of leavers in the most recent period is given in table 3. Information about the cumulative number of leavers since September 1988 is not available. Information about the destinations of leavers is not yet available. The number of filled places is given in table 4.

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment for each standard region of Great Britain what are the monthly statistics since December 1988 for employment training showing(a) entrants in each monthly period, and the number of cumulative entrants since the scheme started, (b) a breakdown of entrants which shows how many were male and female, the length of time they had been out of work, their ethnic backgrounds and whether or not they had any disabilities, (c) the number of trainees in each monthly period who entered work placements and the cumulative total of how many are in project places at the latest available date, (d) trainees who left the scheme in each monthly period, and the number of cumulative leavers since the scheme started, (e) for all those trainees who have left the scheme how many found work; failed to attend; went on to another course of training or education; completed the course; left for sickness; or went back into unemployment and (f) the total number of currently filled places.

Information on entrants is given in table 1. The breakdown of entrants is given in table 2. Information about those entering work placements is not available. Information on trainees on project placements is given in table 3. Leavers information is not available before April 1989; figures since April are given in table 4.

Information about the destinations of leavers is not available for the period requested. The number of filled places is given in table 5.
