To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has to confer on the Loch Lomond area the status of a national park.

There no such plans at present. The designation of the area as a regional park was confirmed by the Secretary of State in April 1988 and it would therefore be appropriate to allow this new arrangement to be developed.
The Government will however carefully consider any proposals from the Countryside Commission for Scotland following its review of the management of popular mountain areas.
