§ Mr. Wyn RobertsMy right hon. Friend has already received a report on the conference held in Aberystwyth on 23 February. Careful consideration is being given to the legislative proposals submitted by the Welsh Language Board.
Dr. ThomasTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many courses are currently offered in the Welsh language in(a) Gwynedd technical college, (b) Llandrillo tech and (c) the North East Wales institute of higher education; and if he will name the courses and the number of students currently on each one.
§ Mr. Wyn RobertsCourse details and the number of students currently taking courses in the Welsh language are not readily available. Information is held only in respect of bilingual further education courses by vocational subject areas at the three institutions:
- (a) Gwynedd Technical College—Secretarial, Business and Commerce, Nursery Nursing, Catering, Home Economics, Community Care, Communication.
- (b) Llandrillo Technical College—Secretarial. Business and Commerce
- (c) North East Wales Institute of Higher Education—Business and Commerce, Nursery Nursing, Technician.
Dr. ThomasTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many courses in the Welsh language will be offered in(a) Clwyd college and (b) Gwynedd college following the implementation of programmes on tertiary education in both counties.
§ Mr. Wyn RobertsMy right hon. Friend has not received any formal proposals affecting the organisation of secondary education in Clwyd and Gwynedd. If proposals are submitted and approved, the question of provision of Welsh language courses will be a matter for the respective authority.
