§ Mr. DobsonTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport what are the latest figures for the number of staff presently employed and the full complement of staff, including vacant posts, by grade, in the statistical divisions in his Department; if he will differentiate between staff in statistical posts and staff in administrative posts; and if he will give the staffing complements by grade, and differentiated between statistical and administrative posts, proposed for 1990–91.
§ Mr. AtkinsThe table gives data for the permanent staff in the directorate of statistics in the Department of Transport on 12 March 1990 and current complement. Statistical posts filled by members of the statistician group are shown at the top of the table. Two of the grade 7 statisticians work part time. There are also two members of the group in statistical posts elsewhere in the Department. The directorate also employs casual staff including currently three with statistical qualifications working in statistician group posts.
The current bid for staffing in 1990–91 does not propose any change to the complement given in the table.
