To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is Her Majesty's Government's policy on the acquisition by states of territory through war.

Mr. Maude

We support the principle stated in United Nations General Assembly resolution 2625 (XXV) (the friendly relations declaration) that no territorial acquisition resulting from the threat or use of force is legal.
