Mr. Dobson

To ask the Attorney-General what are the latest figures for the number of staff presently employed, and the full complement of staff, including vacant posts, in the press and public relations office of the Lord Chancellor's Department; and what is the proposed complement for 1990–91.

The Attorney-General

At present there are six permanent staff employed in the press office of the Lord Chancellor's Department and one on secondment for six months. There are no vacancies at present and no current plans to increase the complement.

To ask the Attorney-General what was the total expenditure by the Lord Chancellor's Department on press and public relations in 1979–80 and in each following year; and what is his latest estimate for the current year and budget for 1990–91.

The Attorney-General

The estimated 1989–90 expenditure by the Lord Chancellor's Department on press and public relations is £35,000 excluding staff costs. The budget for 1990–91 is £45,000.
