HC Deb 12 March 1990 vol 169 c130W
Mr. Ralph Howell

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what information he has on the numbers of people on Government training programmes in(a) the United Kingdom, (b) other European Community countries, (c) the United States of America and (d) Japan and on the costs of these programmes.

Mr. Nicholls

Comparable statistics on the numbers of people on training schemes and the cost of such schemes are not available for the countries listed. The Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development has published estimates of public spending on labour market programmes in chapter 3 of the OECD "Employment Outlook," September 1988, and note A of the OECD "Employment Outlook", July 1989.
