§ Mr. MellorThe readily available information is about prisoners found guilty on adjudication of gross personal violence to a prison officer or of assault or attempted assault on a prison officer. Figures for 1988 were published in table 14 of Statistics of Offences Against Prison Discipline and Punishment, England and Wales 1988 (Cm 929). Data for earlier years appear in chapter 9 of Prison Statistics England and Wales. Copies of both publications are held in the Library.
Details of injuries are not recorded centrally and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
