§ Mr. BlunkettTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if the regulation he is to bring forward consequent on part V of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 will include provision to ensure that councillors who are employees of companies that will be deemed to be controlled by the local authority in which they are a member may see out their term of office.
§ Mr. David HuntThe disqualification of employees of companies under the control of a single local authority arises directly from paragraph 21 of schedule 11 to the Local Government and Housing Act 1989: an order under part V of the Act could not modify this provision.
