To ask the Minister for the Arts what information he has on the accumulated deficits of the national companies.

Mr. Luce

I am advised that the four national companies are projecting a combined deficit of around £8 million by the end of March. Next year they are each to receive an increase of 11 per cent. in their grant from the Arts Council.
