HC Deb 02 March 1990 vol 168 c361W
Mr. John D. Taylor

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he has any plans to enlarge Portavogie harbour to accommodate the present fishing fleet; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

[holding answer 1 March 1990]: The Northern Ireland Fishery Harbour Authority has no plans to enlarge Portavogie harbour.

The authority has submitted proposals for extra shelter at Ardglass which could add to capacity there. There are doubts about whether fish stocks can sustain the expansion in the local fleets during the last two years.
