To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has for monitoring the numbers of teachers from the ethnic minorities in Scotland.

As my hon. Friend the then Minister with responsibility for education announced on 25 May 1989, column657, there are no plans to survey the ethnic origins of school teachers in Scotland.
