§ Mr. Archie HamiltonAt approximately 8.15 am on 21 June a sports holdall was found by a civilian worker on the ground inside the perimeter fence at RAF Stanmore Park adjacent to a civilian workshop. The area was immediately cordoned off and evacuated.
A bomb disposal team had begun clearance operations with the civil police when the holdall exploded at approximately 9.30 am. There were no injuries, but a nearby workshop was damaged.
The police investigation is continuing.
