§ Mrs. Gillian ShephardThe Department continues to develop and improve its computer facilities in the north-west to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of our major programme for the computerisation of the social security benefits system. This includes an initiative to develop computer facilities for the new benefits for disabled people which are described in "The Way Ahead" (Cm 917).
