HC Deb 27 June 1990 vol 175 cc245-6W
Mr. Michael

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many junior doctors are employed in obstetrics on a whole-time equivalent basis in the National Health Service in each regional health authority in England in the current year; and how many were employed in each of the past five years.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

The information requested is given in the table.

The PTB and A and C pay restructurings were negotiated in 1989. By the end of the two year period 1989–90 to 1990–91, the gross extra resources available to the National Health Service in England will have increased by over £4 billion or 20 per cent.
