HC Deb 27 June 1990 vol 175 cc224-5W
Dr. Godman

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many people who were previously denied benefits under the five-year rule governing claims for industrial deafness benefit have re-applied since the ruling of the Law Lords in October 1989 on good cause grounds in(a) Greenock and Port Glasgow, (b) Strathclyde and (c) Scotland as a whole.

Mr. Scott

Eleven applications for review have been received from people in the Greenock and Port Glasgow area following the Court of Appeal ruling. Figures for Strathclyde and Scotland as a whole can be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
