Mr. John Marshall

To ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) if he will give the total number of family planning cases seen by general practitioners in 1982 and in the latest year for which figures are available in Greater London;

(2) if he will give the total number of family planning cases treated at family planning clinics in 1982 and in the latest year for which figures are available in each health district in Greater London.

In 1982, a total of 295,383 women received contraceptive services from general practitioners in Greater London compared with 374,560 in 1988.

In 1982, the number of people seen in family planning clinics in Greater London was 353,320 compared with 294,629 in 1988–89. The breakdown for each district health authority in Greater London is shown in the following table:
