HC Deb 25 June 1990 vol 175 c112W
36. Mr. Teddy Taylor

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what assessment he has made of the impact on consumer prices of the measures taken to reduce pollution of the environment from power stations.

Mr. Baldry

Measures to reduce pollution from existing power stations are likely to increase costs. The extent to which measures to reduce pollution will increase consumer prices will depend on a number of factors, including the cost and availability of alternative, cleaner sources of supply.
