§ Mr. ButlerTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make it his policy to ensure that all meat products containing mechanically recovered meat are labelled as such.
§ Mr. MacleanThe Food Labelling Regulations 1984 already require that where a food or an ingredient has undergone a specific treatment, reference to such treatment shall be included on the label if its omission could mislead the intending purchaser. It is for the decision of the courts whether mechanically recovered meat included in a meat product is subject to this rule.
