HC Deb 25 June 1990 vol 175 c61W
Mr. Patchett

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what discussions he is having with disablement groups regarding the proposal to introduce a disability employment credit; and when he last met the Disablement Income Group.

Mr. Meacher

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security (1) how he proposes formally to consult disability organisations on his proposals outlined in "The Way Ahead—Benefits for Disabled People";

(2) when he expects to publish draft proposals for the disability employment credit.

Mr. Scott

We regularly meet the disability organisations to discuss a wide range of issues. I met the Disability Benefits Consortium—an umbrella group representing over 250 disability organisations including the Disablement Income Group—on 5 April in the second of a series of meetings to discuss their views on "The Way Ahead".

The proposals for a disability employment credit were outlined in "The Way Ahead"; the Government propose to implement these proposals by bringing forward legislation at an early opportunity.
