§ Mr. David HuntSome minor provisions covering the admissibility of hearsay evidence, the meaning of "parent" for certain provisions of the Child Care Act 1980 pending its repeal, and tests to establish paternity came into effect on Royal Assent to the Children Act on 16 November 1989. An amendment to the Education Act 1981 in respect of provision outside England and Wales for certain children came into force on 17 January 1990. We expect to bring the remaining provisions into force in October 1991.
