§ Mr. DorrellThe Government's White Paper "Registration: proposals for change" (Cm. 939), a copy of which is available in the Library, has proposed new arrangements whereby, provided that a declaration is made at a registration office in Wales of a birth or death taking place in an English hospital, it will be possible to register that event in both languages. However, introducing such a procedure requires amendment to the present law; it is therefore one of the measures which the Government will bring forward when an opportunity arises to legislate on registration matters.
