Mr. JacksonThe chairman of the Polytechnics and Colleges Funding Council (PCFC) wrote to my right hon. Friend on 13 June with the council's advice on the designation of new polytechnics. In his letter he indicated that the council had deferred consideration of the case submitted to it by Anglia higher education college pending accreditation of the college by the CNAA, which is one of the criteria established for designation as a polytechnic. My right hon. Friend will respond to the PCFC advice as soon as possible.
