Our assessment, which is shared by Amnesty International and other independent human rights organisations, is that Zimbabwe's human rights performance has significantly improved in recent years. The Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace in Zimbabwe annual report for 1989 says that the situation in the country was generally good with only a few areas of concern. We take every suitable opportunity to encourage the Zimbabweans to reinforce this improvement.
