§ Sir Charles IrvingTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what will be the effect of the Food Safety Bill on Crown immunity in prisons and on the inspection of prisons by local authority environmental health officers; and when the relevant provisions will come into effect.
§ Mr. MellorThe provisions of the Bill will allow local authority environmental health officers the right of entry to prison establishments to carry out inspections of the catering facilities and make recommendations for improvement by way of Crown notices. When a decision is taken on the date of introduction of the relevant provisions a formal announcement will be made.
