HC Deb 20 June 1990 vol 174 c611W
Mr. French

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) whether there are any plans to release any part of land currently at RAF Quedgeley for purposes other than his Department's use;

(2) what representations he has received on the potential development of land at RAF Quedgeley;

(3) if he has any plans to hold consultations with local residents about alternate uses for land at RAF Quedgeley;

(4) if he will make a statement on the future use of RAF Quedgeley other than for his Department's purposes.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

[holding answer 19 June 1990]: We do not yet have any specific plans to dispose of land at RAF Quedgeley. However, as a result of requests from Gloucester city council, Stroud district council, and private sector interests, we have identified some 248 acres as likely to become surplus to defence requirements, and as suitable therefore for inclusion in the local plan currently in preparation.

The future use of any such land would be a matter for consultation with the local planning authority and other interested parties, in line with normal planning procedures.
