§ Mr. IrvineTo ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he intends to make a further reference of a public sector body to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission under section 11 of the Competition Act 1980.
§ Mr. RedwoodA reference has today been sent to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission to investigate the efficiency and costs of, and the service provided by, Northern Ireland Railways Ltd. and its subsidiaries in providing passenger, freight and other services. A copy of the reference has been placed in the Library.
