To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will list in theOfficial Report in tabular form, details of all research into meningitis being supported by the Medical Research Council, indicating (a) the location of the research work, (b) the precise nature of the research project and (c) its tenure.

[holding answer 11 June 1990]: The Medical Research Council, which receives a grant in aid from this Department, is supporting the following research projects on meningitis:

Direct Support—through MRC establishments

  1. (A) MRC Clinical Research Centre Middlesex.

    1. 1. Pathogenesis and immunobiology of meningococcal infection.
    2. 2. Isoenzyme analysis for differentiation of neisseria meningitidis infection.

Indirect Support—Grants
