HL Deb 14 June 1990 vol 520 c523WA
Lord Graham of Edmonton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will state what proportion of the inmate population had work at Manchester Strangeways prison and what was the average length of the working day for each of the last 10 years.

The Minister of State, Home Office (Earl Ferrers)

The information requested is available only for 1989–90, when the average proportion of the inmate population at work in Manchester Prison was 0.38.

The length of the working day varied widely according to occupation and no meaningful average figure can be provided.
