To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the action at royal ordnance factory, Bishopton, taken in relation to Graeme Stewart and Allan Milligan ofThe Scotsman newspaper.

I have been asked to reply. On 1 June at the royal ordnance factory, Bi shopton, Graeme Stewart and John Allan Milligan were charged by officers of Strathclyde police with contravening section 1 of the Official Secrets Act 1911. A report was subsequently submitted to the procurator fiscal at Paisley. The matter was referred to Crown Office and Crown counsel have instructed that there be no proceedings.
