To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will hold discussions with British Rail management on the finalisation of a target opening date for the Heathrow-central London British Rail service.

Mr. Freeman

Neither British Rail nor the British Airports Authority, who are joint sponsors of this project, can finalise the opening date until the Heathrow Express Railway Bill completes its remaining parliamentary stages.
