London Bus Routes

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many bus routes have been put out to tender by London Regional Transport; and what savings have been achieved.

To date approximately 180 routes have been put out to tender, which is about 25 per cent. of the London Regional Transport bus network. LRT estimates that tendering of routes has resulted in real net savings of some 15 per cent. on total operating costs.
