HC Deb 07 June 1990 vol 173 c685W
Mr. Battle

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will direct the Audit Commission to undertake an extraordinary audit of the accounts of Ryedale district council, north Yorkshire, under section 22(2) of the Local Government and Finance Act 1982 in respect of treatment of receipts from the rent revenue account; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Chope

No. The Secretary of State may direct an extraordinary audit if it appears to him in the public interest to do so. No matters have been brought to his attention which would warrant his making such a direction.
