HC Deb 07 June 1990 vol 173 c699W
Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales with whom he is holding consultations concerning the future membership and terms of reference of Gwynedd health authority following the coming into force of the National Health Service and Community Care Bill.

Mr. Grist

No formal consultation has been held, but suggestions for membership of all reconstituted authorities have been received from various sources.

Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales when he began inviting nominations for the chairmanship of Gwynedd health authority for the period following 3 July when his present appointment expires; by what date nominations should be received by him; and whether these same procedures will be applied for the nomination of other members for that authority to fill vacancies which will arise with the expiration of current appointees following that date.

Mr. Grist

Consideration is being given to the appointment of chairmen of district health authorities whose appointments terminate on 31 July 1990. Nominations were not invited.

It is proposed that the appointment of non-executive members of the reconstituted authorities will be made under the provisions of the National Health Service and Community Care Bill currently before Parliament. Anyone who wishes to put his name forward can do so or nominate others.
