HC Deb 06 June 1990 vol 173 cc636-7W
Mr. Frank Field

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will list for each month since October 1989 the number of(a) successful and (b) unsuccessful appeals by unemployed claimants against benefit sanctions arising from (i) actively seeking work, (ii) refusal of employment and (iii) restricted availability by social security region; and if he will make arrangements to place these decisions and future decisions in the Library.

Mrs. Gillian Shephard

Information on unemployment benefit appeals is not available for any period later than the quarter ending 30 September 1989. Moreover statistics are not routinely produced showing the breakdown of decisions within an overall benefit category.

The publication of decisions of the social security appeal tribunals is a matter for the president of the social security and medical appeal tribunals, his Honour Judge Holden, and the hon. Member may wish to contact him direct.
