32. Mr. Menzies Campbell

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland when he last met the president of the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities to discuss local government.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

I refer the hon. and learned Member to the reply which my right hon. and learned Friend gave to the hon. Member for Gordon (Mr. Bruce) on 2 May.

39. Mr. Strang

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland when he last met the president of the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities to discuss the first year of the administration of the poll tax.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

My right hon. and learned Friend and I met the president and other senior officers of the convention on 6 April. This was the first of this year's meetings to discuss Government support for local authority current expenditure in 1991–92. There was also some discussion of a progress report prepared by the convention on the first year of the administration of the community charge.
