§ Mr. McFallTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) if he will provide the numbers of health physics monitors employed on monitoring the radiation exposure of the civilian population in Ministry of Defence areas;
(2) if he will provide the number of health physics monitors employed directly on the monitoring of radiation exposure of workers in each Ministry of Defence and privatised Ministry of Defence establishment since 1960;
(3) if he will provide the number of supervisors, by grade, supervising the monitoring of radiation exposure of workers by health physics monitors in each Ministry of Defence and privatised Ministry of Defence establishment since 1960.
§ Mr. Neubert[holding answer 24 May 1990]: The information requested could be provided only at a disproportionate cost. Ministry of Defence establishments ensure that work with ionising radiation is supervised, and exposure monitored, to the extent necessary to enable that work to be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Ionising Radiations Regulations 1985.
