HC Deb 05 June 1990 vol 173 c584W
101. Miss Widdecombe

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what changes are being made in management within the National Health Service.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

The National Health Service management executive is in close contact with regional health authorities as they take forward proposals for the delegation of functions and other management aspects of "Working for Patients". Considerations include the need for any changes to be made to management structures both in health authorities and units to improve services.

Progress overall in the implementation of the NHS review is good and we remain confident that management arrangements will be in place to enable the reforms contained in the NHS and Community Care Bill to be implemented next year, resulting in improved standards, more effective use of resources and better patient care.
