Mr. Snape

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the units or divisions responsible for the road system in Wales together with their addresses, directors, and the last prior professional appointment of those directors.

Sir Wyn Roberts

The trunk road system in Wales is the responsibility of the Welsh Office highways directorate which is mainly based at the Government Buildings, Ty-Glas road, Llanishen, Cardiff. The Director of Highways, Mr. K. J. Thomas BSc CEng FICE FIHT, was previously deputy director at the Property Services Agency's southern region at Reading.

Other roads in Wales are the responsibility of county councils as local highways authorities.
